NEW YORK (Siwel) – The NGO Human Rights Watch, based in New York, said Saturday been in possession of credible information on serious abuses, including murder, committed by Malian security forces against Tuareg civilians in the town of Niono in the center of the country.
“We urge the Malian authorities, as well as the French and West African forces, to do their utmost to ensure the protection of all civilians,” advised the New York based NGO in a statement.
According to HRW, the Tuareg and Arabs, two insurged communities now controling two-thirds of Mali, are particularly affected.
The Malian army, engaged with his French counterpart and West African troops in the reconquest of the country against armed Islamists, could not be contacted for the moment to get a reaction.
