Charlie Hebdo caricaturist beaten at a conference


The Algerian colonial authorities have just launched their anti-riot forces against a conference on the theme “The History of the Contemporary Amazigh Movement”, organized by the Aokas Literary Café. Aokas lies on the beautiful coast of Kabylia.

After a series of conference bans at the Aokas Literary Café, a march was organized on Saturday, July 22, starting at 1 pm local time, under the slogan “Set culture free in Aokas” where a strong citizen mobilization imposed the holding of the conference that was to be animated by Ramdane Achab, editor, linguist, activist of the Amazigh cause and teacher.

Half an hour after the start of the conference, an overwhelming reinforcement of Algerian police forces erupted inside the building, according to a witness on the spot, “enraged policemen began to beat up the audience and completely ransacked Inside the premises “.

Around 15 local hours, riots began, tear gas bombs reach even the walls of houses …

The Charlie Hebdo caricaturist Ghiles Ainouche, is currently in the hospital after being beaten by a policeman.
